Registration Now Open for SD&A XXVI

Plan now to attend the 26th annual Stereoscopic Displays and Applications conference (SD&A). SD&A will run for 3 days over Monday-Wednesday Feb. 9 through 11, 2015 at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square Hotel, the same location as last year.

SD&A is held as part of the IS&T/SPIE Electronic Imaging (EI) Symposium which runs Feb. 8 through 12, 2015. The EI Symposium continues to be the premier meeting for the latest research in digital imaging systems, 3-D display, image quality, optimization, and more.

Call for SD&A 3D Theatre Content
The 3-D Theatre session is perennially one of the most popular sessions at SD&A. This session showcases the wide range of 3-D content being produced around the world. The SD&A 2015 3-D Theatre session will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday Feb. 9, 2015, the first day of the conference. Organizers are now seeking content submissions for the upcoming 3-D Theatre session. If you are a 3-D content producer, or have recently worked on a -3D production and can help obtain permission, please consider submitting your work. They accept a wide range of 3-D content, from studio blockbusters to industrial applications to student productions. 3-D content should be tightly edited and well-produced. The due date for 3-D content submission is Jan. 12, 2015. Content contributors should send email to 3dsubmission[AT]about3d.info

SD&A 2015 Keynote Speakers Announced
The SD&A chairs are pleased to announce the two keynote speakers at the 2015 SD&A conference.

On Monday Feb.9 Ian Bickerstaff from Sony Computer Entertainment (UK) speaks about the evolution of head mounted displays, stereoscopic technologies and virtual reality software with his talk A Stereoscope for the PlayStation Generation.
On Tuesday Feb. 10 Dr. Jenny Read from University of Newcastle (UK) talks about “What is stereoscopic vision good for?”

Both Ian and Jenny have attended SD&A previously and made valuable contributions to those meetings.

Wendy's Night at the Museum Secret of the Tomb 3-D Kids Meal

Wendy's Night at the Museum 3-D toys.

Wendy's included a 3-D viewer and two sets of 3-D cards as a toy in their kid's meals. The 3-D cards featured images from the Night at the Museum - Secret of the Tomb movie. One set is titled "Jedediah in the Wild West" and the other "Octavius Adventures in Rome".

A Pacific Ocean House stereoview sold for $500 with one bid. Photographed and published by Lawrence & Houseworth, Opticians, Importers Of Stereoscopic Goods, 317 & 319 Montgomery St., San Francisco. This is a stereoview titled "46. Pacific Ocean House, Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz Co." 1865 with tax stamp. The first luxury hotel in Santa Cruz was the Pacific Ocean House, built in 1865. The image features a stagecoach in front of the hotel.
