House of Wax Movie Radio Spot Record (1953)

House of Wax acetate movie radio spot record.

Here is a super rarity. This is a 45 rpm record containing a movie radio spot for the classic Warner Bros. 1953 3-D film House of Wax starring Vincent Price. Usually theatres could order these radio spot records through National Screen Service for free or at minimal cost. The theatres would buy radio advertising and send the disc to the radio station to promote the film in advance and during the playdate.

The one-sided record contains one monophonic 30 second radio commercial. The label is white with House of Wax typed on it. In red ink the label reads Annex Studios, 1032 N. Sycamore Ave., Hollywood, Calif. HO 4-4771.

Crossed 3-D Horror Comic is for adults only (2010)

Crossed 3-D preview comic art.

Crossed 3-D, released in August 2010, is an original full-color graphic novel. David Lapham delivers a shocking tale of the Crossed epidemic unleashed in New York City, as presented in gory hyper-detail with artwork by Gianluca Pagliarani. The action and terror explodes off the page as S.W.A.T. veteran Lt. Hunt MacAvoy must assemble a rag-tag team to rescue one of the last surviving doctors, deep in the heart a city overrun by homicidal maniacs! Those infected have a blood cross on their faces.

Created with state-of-the-art 3-D effects over full color art and accompanied by a removable pair of 3-D glasses, this graphic novel will shock and disturb you in a way you’ve never seen before! The comic is definitely for adult audiences due to the graphic nature of gore and nudity in the artwork.

The Crossed 3-D graphic novel was available in softcover (AUG100795, originally sold for $8.99) and in hardcover (AUG100796, originally sold for $14.99 and limited to 5,000 units). There was also a set of Crossed 3-D posters with glasses (AUG100797, originally sold for $1.99 and included two full-color 3-D posters).

Below are several preview panels in anaglyphic 3-D, the cover art for the hardcover limited edition, artwork of the Crossed 3-D glasses and the two anaglyphic posters..

Dragonfly Squadron 3-D released on Blu-ray

Previously lost 3-D Korean War Film to be released on Blu-ray for the first time

Dragonfly Squadron 3-D Blu-ray cover art

Audiences will be able to see a film shot in 1953 in 3-D for the first time Oct. 14, 2014, when the 3-DFilm Archive releases Dragonfly Squadron, the company’s first 3-D Blu-ray, distributed through Olive Films.

Dragonfly Squadron tells the story of Air Force Major Matthew Brady (John Hodiak), assigned to train a squadron of South Korean pilots, and attempting to have them combat-ready in half the usual time allowed. At the air base at Kongju, Brady comes face to face with a former love (Barbara Britton), the wife of an army medical officer (Bruce Bennett). When enemy forces invade, most of the American personnel are evacuated, but Brady remains behind with the barely-trained South Korean troops.

Completed in late 1953, just as the production output of 3-D movies in that period was in decline, Dragonfly Squadron was only released in a 2-D version. The 3-D Film Archive has located and preserved the film from the original negative elements. Using state-of-the-art stereoscopic restoration techniques, the film has been aligned shot-by-shot for an optimum 3-D presentation.

“We faced many unique challenges in restoring this lost stereoscopicfeature, including the deterioration of important 35mm elements. We rescued it just in time” says 3-D Film Archive founder and director Bob Furmanek. “The original stereoscopic alignment issues have now been corrected and the 3-D presentation is flawless. Sixty years later, we can see finally see it as the filmmakers originally intended.”

Bonus features include:

  • 2-D version for non-3-D-capable Blu-Ray players
  • Original theatrical trailer

The 3-D Film Archive is an organization dedicated to preserving and restoring historic stereoscopic films. Founded in 1990, the 3-D Film Archive controls the distribution of more than two dozen 3-D films made from 1922 to 1970. Read more about the film's production and restoration.
