Information & Referral

TCIL maintains extensive files on:

  • Accessible housing,
  • Transportation,
  • Employment opportunities,
  • Personal care assistants,
  • Interpreters & readers,
    and many more!!

CILs are not there to duplicate services already in the community, but rather to stay current on what resources are available.


Living Skills Training

TCIL provides training to help persona with disabilities gain skills that will enable them to live more independently and be a more active part of their community, including:

  • Use of public transportation,
  • Budgeting,
  • Daily life skills,
    and many more!!

Advocacy & Consultation

TCIL provides two kinds of advocacy:

  1. Consumer / individual advocacy - Working with an individual, regarding benefits, employment, housing, and other issues.
  2. Systems advocacy - Rallying for changes in the community and state to enhance the quality of life for all persons.

TCIL can assist with:

  • Social Security,
  • Food stamps,
  • Housing,
  • Obtaining equipment

TCIL staff can help with consultation services by:

  • Work space survey,
  • Home, apartment, or other living area survey,
  • Collaberative consultation for adaptive construction or modification

Peer Support

At least 51% of all TCIL staff must have a disability. The staff serves as a resource person, role model, and mentor.


Personal Assistance

A consumer-controlled personal assistance program that provides consumers the choice to live in their homes, rather than in an institutional setting.

We can help with loans of needed assistance equipment, including:

  • Wheelchairs, and more!

We have information regarding housing, disabilities, benefits, and a wide variety of topics.

Computer Library

Computers with internet access are available for all consumers.

Community Education & Training

We offer various training programs to businesses, schools, service agencies, and individuals in regards to disability awareness and prevention.

This is a free service provided by our staff.
