But most of all, Chien Tan was just about having fun with kids your age. The language classes were a really good chance to catch up on sleep after having not slept all night. Sleep was lost for any number of reasons...midnight conversations with people aound the stump, late night runs to the night market, food runs to 7-Eleven, and by far the most popular reason, clubbing.

Pretty much every evening brought a mass exodus from the Chien Tan campus to various clubs in the greater Taipei metro area. The more popular clubs included 2Kinky, Night-11, Sexy-a-go-go (don't ask), and GG's. While on the surface it might appear that these late night jaunts might detract from our studies, it actually turns out that this was where most people picked up the most Chinese. Interacting with locals was a great way to practice what we had learned in the classrooms. As per Andrea's request, I won't talk about which Taiwanese celebrity we saw one night out.
