US 1885 Carbine Sling

This is a Cavalry Carbine Sling Pattern 1885. This sling was produced at Rock Island Arsenal and is so stamped on the swivel and near the tip of the sling. The sling is also stamped with a 2nd Cavalry, H Troop stamp. The inspector's mark near the buckle is C.W. There is also a large 4 stamped near the tip. The sling is 1 1/2" wide and 60" long and is made of black collar leather with a brass bar buckle and brass riveted scalloped tip

NOTE:  There is also a variant that has two pins on the buckle.  These slings are 54" long and 2 1/2" wide.
