Back to School Bonanza
Our second annual Back to School Bonanza /Open House was quite successful.
PTO did an exceptional job of organizing this event.
They served approximately 750 sundaes. We appreciate parents making time
to come and visit our school. Parents who attended had the opportunity to sign up
for first quarter parent-teacher conferences. If you were unable to attend please
contact your child's teacher to schedule a conference time for October 25 or
October 26 (3:30-7:30). In the past we have had 98% of parents attend conferences.
We'd like to have 100% this year.
The monthly PTO meeting for October has been rescheduled for October 19 at 7:00.
All parents and teachers are invited to attend. Reminder:
Pizza/fund raiser order forms are due October 4! All orders will be
delivered Tuesday, October 26 between 3:00-6:00. All orders must be paid for at
that time. Parents will be responsible for collecting money from people who ordered and
for delivery of items. We encourage you and your families to participate in this
fund-raising event.
PTO would also like to announce that Miss Heavin's second grade
class won $40 for having the most volunteer survey sheets turned in.
The class voted to spend part of their prize money on a hamster.
Miss Heavin is thrilled. Congratulations Miss Heavin's class!

September: Students worked on skills related to soccer including activities
involving a variety of ball handling techniques. Games played were Boundary
Bomber, Soccer Golf and Pinball Soccer. The third and fourth graders ended the
unit with Line Soccer. All others played Circle Soccer and one on one soccer.
October: We'll continue our ball handling skills with different varieties of kickball.
K-1 students will be learning fielding positions and base running in addition to playing a game called Line It Up Kickball, Indian Club Kickball and traditional kickball. At the end of the month, we'll be starting a unit on pre-football skills. We will not be playing organized football at this level of play.
Remember: We'll be going outside even when the weather is chilly, so make sure your
child is dressed properly!
Check out the Mark Twain newsletter each month to see what's happening in your child's P.E. class.
