We wish for you a very happy Thanksgiving,
and many

This is a wonderful time to stop and take an inward look at ourselves.
Are we thankful?
Thankfulness is a way of thinking, an attitude,
a way of looking at the world, a way of life.

Must we have perfect parents
in order to be thankful for their doing their best for us,
no matter how great or little we may perceive that to be?

Are we thankful for what we enjoy
that others have worked hard for on our behalf?

Are we thankful for what we have,
how ever much or little we may think it is?

Are we thankful for our jobs,
even though they may not be the "perfect" jobs
we would like to have someday?

Let us be a people of thankfulness!

We in the U.S.A. have so much to be thankful for as a country.
We have a wealth of freedoms, such as
freedom to vote our leaders in or out of office,
freedom of speech, freedom to travel,
freedom to choose our own directions in life, etc.

Many people have given their lives
to give us these freedoms and to protect them for us.

We must remember, too, that with freedom comes responsibility:
responsibility for protecting those freedoms for the future
and not abusing them in the present,

responsibility for keeping our personal behaviors
in line with what is best for
our families and our neighborhoods
as well as the whole country.

Ps.103:2 Ps.103:2

Most of us have at least an adequate supply
of food, clothing, and shelter to sustain us.

Are we thankful to the One who gave it all to us?
God is the One who has given everything to us.

Those of us in this country who have no worldly possessions still have life,
and that life is a gift from God.

God has also given us the gift of eternal life through Jesus, God's son,
because He loves us--all of us-- (John 3:16)
and wants to have a personal relationship with us-- with you (John 17:3).

This gift, however, must be received, accepted, taken as your own. (John 1:12)

Jesus, because of His love for us, set aside His power and position in Heaven
to become a human on earth through a miraculous virgin birth,
being both fully God and fully man. (Philippians 2:5-11)

He lived a sinless life, in perfect obedience to God the Father.
He offered Himself to be a sacrifice, dying in our place,
so that our sinfulness, our imperfection, our rebellion against God, (Romans 3:23)
could be paid for and forgiven. (2Corinthians 5:21)

God raised Jesus from the dead
as proof that His sacrifice was accepted on our behalf. (1Corinthians 15:3-6)

God has accepted what Jesus has done for us.
We have accepted what Jesus has done for us.
Have you accepted what Jesus has done for you? (John 11:25-27)

If you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior,
God has accepted you into His family.

If you have not accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior,
you can do it right now!

Tell God the Father that you acknowledge being
sinful, imperfect, rebellious against Him. (Romans 3:23)
Ask Him to forgive you. (1John 1:9)
Tell Him that you believe and accept what Jesus has done for you.
Invite Jesus into your heart and life.
Tell Jesus that you receive Him
as your personal Savior, and Lord of your life.

If you have done this with an honest and sincere heart,
then God has accepted you, adopted you,
as one of His own children, a member of His family!
(John 1:12)

Now thank Him for what He has done
and tell someone about it! Tell us!
(Romans 10:9-10)

"Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.
His love endures forever.

Give thanks to the God of gods.
His love endures forever.

Give thanks to the Lord of lords:
His love endures forever.

to him who alone does great wonders,
His love endures forever.

who by his understanding made the heavens,
His love endures forever.

who spread out the earth upon the waters,
His love endures forever.

who made the great lights--
His love endures forever.

the sun to govern the day,
His love endures forever.

the moon and stars to govern the night;
His love endures forever. ...

Give thanks to the God of heaven.
His love endures forever.
Psalm 136:1-9, 26
