MISSOURI LIONS 22ND ANNUAL ALL-STAR FOOTBALL GAME

Plans are now in place for the 1998 Missouri Lions All-Star Football Game. The game will be played in Jefferson City on Saturday, July 25th at Dwight T. Reed Stadium. Kick-off will be at 7:30 p.m.

At this time, graduating seniors from all 11 Missouri Lions Districts are being selected to play in this annual event. Head coaches this year will be Paul Day from Owensville High School and Ron Cole of Jefferson City High School. Game officials and referees will be from the St. Louis area.

In order to play an exciting and truly "Missouri All-Star Game" the support of each District, Club and Lion is needed. The expenses of putting on this game have been estimated at $700 per player and coach. That is the minimum amount needed for a community to sponsor their local favorite. Your District Athletic Chairman needs your help to raise sponsorship funds. He/She is asking each Lions Club to assist by selling advertisements in the 1998 Football Program. Ad prices start at $30 and booster ads are available for a $5.00 per line. Advertisements should be solicited from local businesses, booster clubs, fraternal organizations, and Lions Clubs. In addition to advertisements, support can be shown by purchasing game tickets and/or raffle tickets for a Branson Getaway.

This annual event brings together 70+ football players, 8 coaches, 5 game officials, 6+ cheerleaders, the 100+ member Missouri Lions All-State Band, and countless relatives to see the Missouri Lions in action. Many parents, players and band students have later joined their local Lions Club because of this contact.

Please contact your District Athletic Chairman today for more information. Remember, it takes the support of every Lions Club for the Athletic Committee to put on a fun, exciting and profitable Missouri Lions All-Star Football Game and the net proceeds are donated to our state project, the Missouri Lions Eye Research Foundation.
