GRASS ROOTS LIONISM IN ACTION

The Leadership forum this past February was outstanding as shown by the full session with approximately 1/3 of attendees being first timers. Past International Director Frank Moore kept the interest level high. A big thank you goes to the entire Leadership Committee for their efforts.

Time seems to be going by so fast! When you read this issue of the Missouri Lion the spring board of director's meeting in Christ Church New Zealand will be over. Our new executive administrator for Lions Club International, Winthrop Hamilton III, will have been on the job for the first quarter of 1998. Most all of MD 26 district conventions will be a memory.

So now what can we do? For one thing we can still attend our MD26 convention. A second thing would be to personally take a non-Lion to a club meeting. As a third thought, why not attend that last zone or cabinet meeting with a Lion or non Lion who has not been before. Fourth, talk to your district governor elect and see if he or she needs someone to serve in the next year with them. Fifth, if you are an in-coming officer in your club find out when there will be a training session in your district and then attend. Sixth, if you haven't been a sponsor for a new member before or have not sponsored someone in the last year, ask yourself why. Seventh ask your district governor about the Quality Lion Award. Eighth, put yourself in place of a non Lion who is coming to your club meeting for the first time. Ninth, write down three questions you would like to know about Lions Clubs International and talk to someone you think should have the answers. Tenth, pick one project in your club and offer to be chairman of it.

The list could go on and on. We need to make each day count in our organization. Now is the time for getting this done, each in our own way. This is grass roots Lionism in action.

Yours in Lionism
Dr. Dwayne Garrett
International Director
