A SEMINAR ON COCHLEAR IMPLANTS

On January 21 the Lake Ozark Lions Club held a seminar for area Lions Clubs on a new procedure being used to help those with substantial hearing loss. This procedure is called Cochlear Implants. The lecture was given by Scott Estrem M.D., Karen Bauer, and Elbe Boshoff from the Audiology Clinic at the University Medical Center in Columbia, Mo.

The purpose of the lecture was to inform the clubs about the new procedure and encourage their support in raising funds for additional research and new equipment. The costs for this operation are currently $40,000 per patient.

Area clubs attending were the Barnett Lions, Rocky Mount Lions, Hurricane Deck Lions, and the Osage Beach Mid-Mo Lions. The primary fund-raising events for the Lake Ozark Lions are the Gun Show in June and weekly Bingo Fundraisers.
