The winning entry for the Multiple District 1997-98 Lions Peace Poster Contest was sponsored by the Marshfield Lions Club in District 26-H. Eleven year old Casey Cantrell was the artist. She is in the 6th grade at Webster Elementary School in Marshfield. Her winning entry, a good depiction of the contest theme A World in Harmony, was sent to International to be entered in the International Contest.The grand prize winning poster was chosen, February 9 at the Chicago Children's Museum in Chicago Illinois. While not the grand prize winner, Casey's poster was selected as one of the 23 merit award winners. Her poster along with the other 22 merit award winners and the grand prize winner will be on display in a traveling

exhibit. One of the exhibit locations will be the Children's Museum of Kansas City, Kansas.Congratulations Casey and the Marshfield Lions! The Multiple District second place winner was from District 26-A2 and the third place entry came from District 26-J. We thank all the participants and their teachers and parents from all over the state for their efforts and interest in this contest. Every one of the hundreds who entered a peace poster in this years contest was a winner if it only made them and their friends think about world peace for just a few minutes. The top three Multiple District Posters will be included in the Missouri Lion - Online. There will be more details and all three will be in full color. |
