PROPOSED REDISTRICTING PLAN FOR MD-26 | |
The Multiple District Long Range Planning Committee unanimously approved a redistricting plan for the Multiple District at their meeting in Jefferson City, December 6, 1997. The proposal then was presented to the Council of Governors at their meeting in Cape Girardeau, January 17, 1998, for their information. After discussion the Council unanimously approved the committee plan to inform the Lions of Missouri on the details of the reorganization plan. The proposal is for an 8 district Multiple as indicated on the map above. While the map designates the districts by number, this is not necessarily the manner in which they will be designated when the plan is voted upon. The committee plans to include the map in the Missouri Lion, place a copy of the map on display at the 1998 State Convention in Cape Girardeau, discuss the plan at all state and district meetings and in general inform the Lions of Missouri in any way possible of the details of the plan. The plan would then be placed on the ballot for the approval of the delegates to the 1999 State Convention in Kansas City.
| If the plan receives the required positive vote of the delegates at that convention, it would then be submitted to the sub-district conventions in the year 2000 for their approval. Sub-district approval requires a simple majority to pass. To be adopted as a plan for the Multiple District it would require the approval of at least of the sub-districts.
The Long Range Planning Committee has recommended to the Constitution and By-Laws
Committee that the following or
similar ballot language be used for the proposition when it appears on the ballot in 1999:
