JOHN KADLEC TO SPEAK AT FOOTBALL BANQUET

The Missouri Lions Athletic Committee is honored to have John Kadlec, special assistant to the Mizzou athletic director, as our guest speaker at the 1997 Annual All-Star Football Banquet. The banquet will again be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Ramada Inn in Jefferson City, Missouri on July 25, 1997. Reservations are $15 per person and must be made in advance through the State Office.

John Kadlec, often described as "Mr. Mizzou," wears many hats in his role as special assistant to the athletic director. Since returning to his alma mater in 1986, he's been director of Mizzou's fund-raising arm, the Tiger Development Fund, and worked as director of external relations. He'll also be spending his third season in the Tiger Network broadcast booth alongside play-by-play man Mike Kelly.

As an all-conference guard for the Tigers in 1950 (his photo graced the cover of the MU Media Guide that season), Kadlec played in the East-West Shrine and Senior Bowls that year. He served two terms as a Missouri assistant coach, 1952-60 and 1966-78, coaching teams that went to the Orange, Gator, Fiesta and Sun Bowls. During his days at Mizzou, he worked under coaches Don Faurot, Frank Broyles, Dan Devine and Al Onofrio.

He earned a bachelor's degree in education from Mizzou in 1951 and a master's degree in the same field in 1952. A native of St. Louis, Kadlec and his wife Dolly have four children--Judy, Peggy, John and Joan and three grandchildren.
