A WEEKEND IN MEXICO

The winners of the 1997 "Weekend in Mexico" sponsored by the Mexico Lions Club, were Lions Billy (left) & Elizabeth (center) Jones, of Aurora, MO. They will be special guests at the honored guests celebrate. All local Lions Club members and their spouses are invited, as are all other Lions throughout the state.

events ranging from a square dance with hayride and wiener roast Friday night, August 22, to a dinner - dance Saturday night and a brunch Sunday. There will also be tours of interest during the day Saturday.

It has been 16 years since the first "Weekend in Mexico" door prize was awarded at the Lions' State Convention to a couple, who, like most others attending, expected a trip to the country of the same name. After a successful weekend in Mexico, MO the annual prize has been a coveted award among Lions throughout the state. Often previous winners will return to help Home, and another tour of a place of interest in Mexico, to be announced. Following lunch and a tour of the Barbary Coast in Mexico, will be a tour of Audrain County Historical Museum, and then a visit to the antique shops in Mexico. The weekend concludes with a brunch Sunday, August 24.
