Puxico MO - Who says you're too old to become a Lion? Just join the Puxico Lions at any meeting and you
will meet Lion Sylvia Schmidt, who celebrated her 98th birthday on January 19, 1997! Lion Sylvia joined the
ranks of the Puxico Club in October of 1990, at the young age of 91. She was sponsored by her husband,
Henry Schmidt, who was an active Lion for many years before his death. After Lion Henry passed away,
Lion Sylvia continued to attend meetings and currently participates in all activities. Her wit and humor is
enjoyed by all Puxico Lions. To commemorate her birthday, Lion President PDG Judy McClendon and Lion Secretary Elfreda Cox arranged for birthday greetings from President Bill Clinton, 26D District Governor Dennis Quertermous, the Puxico Club, and from International President Augustin Saliva. Missouri State Representative Marilyn Williams sent a House Resolution honoring Lion Sylvia's birthday. Vice District Governor Keith Deimund, Zone Chairman Bill Fox, and Piedmont Lion Jim Phillips were in attendance along with other Lions and guests to help celebrate Lion Sylvia's special day.
26D Vice District Governor Keith Deimund presented Lion Sylvia Schmidt with a congratulatory letter from International President Augustin Soliva.
