Independence/Fairmount Lions Club
WAL-MART CAR, TRUCK & HARLEY SHOW
The Independence-Fairmount Lions Club co-hosted with the Dream Machines Car Club, the first annual
Wal-Mart Car, Truck & Harley Show. The show was held at the Wal-Mart store parking lot at M291 and
39th Street in Independence on October 5, 1996. 380 cars and trucks and 80 Harley motorcycles entered
the event.
The Fairmount Lions sold tacos and solicited local businesses for sponsorships for the event.
The event raised $1650.00 for each of two children's organizations, the Children's Center for the Visually
Impaired (CCVI) and the Children's Miracle Network.
CCVI works with pre-school and kindergarten children who are visually impaired. The center also has an
infant enrichment program for parents and children under the age of two years.
