Ferguson Lions Help Sea Lions Swim Club

Ferguson Lion Club members, President Harry Henderson, Civic Involvement Chairman Charlie Ashlock and Youth Committee Chairman Melvin Whaley, recently presented a check for $2,000 to Stan Kreitler, Recreation Supt. of the Ferguson Recreation Department. The money will be used to purchase a new Starting Block and Lane Marker Storage Reel at the January-Wabash Park Swimming Pool.

Leslie Hogshead, president of the Swim Team Parents Association, requested the new equipment from the Lions for youthful members of the swim team. There are 175 youth members of the team, which has changed its name to the Ferguson Sea Lions in honor of the Ferguson Lions Club, which has strongly supported the swim team for years.

The Ferguson Lions Club raises funds for worthy causes with a "Green" social on the first and third Thursday evenings at the Palace Hall in the Target Center. Some of the organization's yearly funded projects are offering 10 student scholarships yearly, sponsorship of hearing and eye tests, donations to the Ferguson Welfare League, eye care for needy children, Old Newsboy participation every year, diabetic supplies for needy children, and providing Leader Dogs for the blind.
