TO THE LIONS OF MISSOURI

Thanks to you, the efforts to elect an International Director from MD26 was successful. This was a united effort from the state convention on. All districts were represented in this endeavor.

I cannot tell you too often how good it feels to have your support. The Lions attending the International Convention pitched in by bringing needed materials, assembling, and seeing that they were distributed and displayed. Monday night will always be remembered. We needed to get posters, banners, and etc. ready for the parade and convention center on Tuesday. We gathered in the hospitality room with 5 or 6 Lions, and within minutes word was out and we had 10 times that number helping. That spirit of cooperation and work carried through the whole week with the campaigning, the hospitality room, and the reception.

The Lions and spouses of MD26 deserve the credit for this successful election. Jeanette and I thank you for giving us this opportunity to serve and represent all Lions the next two years.

I have been appointed to the service activities committee of the International Board. This committee formulates policy governing all Lions programs which provides services either in terms of manpower or financial support. I look forward to serving on this committee. There has already been a steady stream of information being mailed by International for my consumption.

President Augustine Soliva fell and suffered a fracture at the International convention. He continued his travels to Oak Brook to attend a dedication. Upon his return to Brazil he required surgery with hospitalization. He will be limiting his travel until the board meeting in Florida in October. Let's keep him in our thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.

Dr. Dwayne Garrett
International Director
