HIGGINSVILLE LION NAMED MELVIN JONES FELLOW

Lion Fran Laun of Higginsville has been named a Melvin Jones Fellow by Lions Clubs International, in recognition of her commitment to serving the world community.

Named for the founder of Lions Clubs International, Melvin Jones, the fellowship is the foundation's highest honor. It is a recognition of a commitment to humanitarian service. Fran is a member of the Lafayette Lions Club of Higginsville, District 26-I (WE). She recently received a finely crafted plaque and lapel pin acknowledging her dedication to the foundation's humanitarian goals. The award was presented on behalf of the Lafayette Lions by Past District Governor Don Lorenz of Corder, the District's LCIF Chairman for her outstanding service to the Club as Secretary for the past 5 years and on the District level as Zone Chairman, Region Chairman, and District Drug Awareness Chairman. The award was presented at the beginning of the Annual Picnic of the Lafayette and Higginsville Lions Clubs held on Thursday, June 20, at the home of Lion Harri Huscher.

Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization numbering more than 1.425 million members. As the charitable arm of the association, Lions Clubs International Foundation acts as steward of the financial resources that are disbursed for humanitarian causes. Lion Fran becomes a part of a growing network of individuals who are committed to improving the quality of life for people locally and in communities around the world.
