VOL1NO1

Dated: August 2002.

Message from Director IIT-Roorkee.

(awaited)

DATED: JULY 19, 2002

Presidents

EX. Comm. And Individual Members on our list,, Director IIT, Roorkee,,, Manu Parida

GEETINGS EVERY BODY,

I had taken as President of our Association in October 1999 after our meeting in Detroit.

I, now,  have been busy, more than 100 percent of my time,  with my

1)   Conference in New York in April 2004,

2)   Research project from FHWA,

3)   Yoga and Meditation work shops , and

4)   Travels with my family, and other personal things which come with advancing age.

I, therefore cannot devote enough time to shoulder the above important jobs any more  and do justice to these assignments. I have been president 3-times.

I, will,  therefore  invite you to elect a new President as soon as possible.

I have been able to complete the following tasks in this period;

  1. A web page has been installed and is fully operational at   www.ruaa-nac.com
  2. An Executive committee has been appointed
  3.  A trust fund has been created in US Bank, Rolla
  4. All the collections so far have been deposited in CD’s with US Bank, Rolla as  per the instructions of the Donors and directions of the Ex. Comm. to hold these   contributions in USA and not send to Roorkee.
  5. A Not-For-Profit status has been granted to the UOR-Foundation on permanent basis.
  6. A board of trustees is under appointment
  7. A scheme is being finalized in consultation with the Ex. Comm. for generating  half a million Dollars in 1-year, and 25 million dollars in 10 years. These collections will also be held in the USA till a tangible need for funds is established in Roorkee.
  8. Plans are being developed to host the National meet of the Alumni Association in North America in Summer 2003, and invite The Director IIT-R to be the chief guest. This will give an opportunity to the new Director to interact with the Alumni first hand and meet the Big Donor Alumni.

I will of course be available to serve the Association  even after I quit as President, as much as my time will permit..

I, therefore ,invite nominations for the election of President ASAP. The deadline is August 15, 2002.

Please send me your nomination along with the consent of your nominee. As per rules, I am appointing a committee to conduct this election...

Best Regards and happy summer

Love to all

DATED: JULY , 2002

Dear Prem Vrat Ji,

Greetings

I have done a lot of talking to the Alumni on Giving. The following things emerged;

1 USA is going through an almost recession at this time. Therefore we may wait till things start getting better.

2 IIT-R has recently received enhanced grants, both recurring and non-recurring. We are hoping that this will alleviate the suffering on short term basis. Alumni are keen to learn how and when things start changing with RU becoming IIT-R.

3 We are starving for News of the Alma-mater. You may consider sending a two-monthly information to me, on How IIT, R is (RE)-developing . I will disseminate it to all Alumni here by Email/web site.

4 Most importantly, we are planning a Get Together at National level in Summer 2003. We had first one in 1976 in Chicago, the second in 1981 in Washington DC, the third in SF in 1988. Normally 50-60 families from the area and near by join.

Dr. J. Narain the then VC had visited us in 1981. The late Dr NC Nigam had visited about 10 years back. We like more frequent meetings with our Director/s.

We will like you to plan to join this get-together in 2003. At that time, we will be happy to arrange your meetings with prospective DONOR Alumni at other places also.

Your News to us will go a long way in establishing a communication with IITR and the Alumni.

We are launching E-MULTIFARIA in July/August 2002. We had discontinued the hard copy publication after we had launched the website. You may please send us a message of good wishes.

I will visit Roorkee in Nov/Dec 2002.

With kindest personal regards

Cc PK Varma,

Please send copy to all EC members pl.
