Who is eligible to participate in Optimist Club Programs? The Optimist Club of Rolla Missouri invites Public, Parochial, Private and Home-Schooled students in Rolla MO and those within commuting distances to participate in our Athletic, Academic and Service Programs.

What does it cost for a child to participate? While donations are always needed and appreciated to supplement our fundraisers, neither a child nor their family is ever charged a fee to participate in any Optimist Club of Rolla Missouri Program.

The purposes Of Optimist clubs are: to develop Optimism as a philosophy of life; to promote an active interest in good government and civic affairs; to inspire respect for law; to promote patriotism and work for international accord and friendship among all people; to aid and encourage the development of youth, in the belief that giving one’s self in service to others will advance the well-being of man, his community and world.. This is accomplished through a series of community projects, fundraisers, and youth programs.

Optimist Clubs are dedicated to "Bringing Out the Best in Kids" and do their part through community service programs. Since each Club is autonomous and run by members in their community, Optimists have the unique flexibility to serve the youth of their area in any way they see fit. Optimist Clubs see a need in their community and react to it.

Who We Are? The Optimist Club is a voluntary organization of civic-minded men and women banded together for progressive thought and action in community service. Membership, which is by invitation only, is composed of citizens drawn from business, industry, agriculture, and other professions. Members are motivated by the desire to contribute to our community from which they and their families draw daily benefits. There is no greater opportunity for participation in community affairs than in our Optimist Club.

New Optimists Wanted: While membership is by invitation only our meetings and events are always open to the public. If you would like to find out more about the club and meet some outstanding upbeat positive "Friends of Youth" and make a difference in the lives of the youth of our area attend a meeting, attend one of our events, and/or send us an email.

Should you decide you are interested in joining the club a sponsor will be assigned to you if you do not know someone in the club already.

The Optimist Creed

PROMISE YOUR SELF

To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.

To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.

To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.

To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best.

To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.

To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others

To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

"Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain."
