Empty Space Anything I write more complicated than plain text is done using PageStream, a cross-platform professional desktop publishing application. Most of what I use it for is rather pedestrian and certainly not exciting: mostly rules documentation. I do have one example here on display as I think it looks rather nice, but it would be a mistake to judge PageStream based solely on the reproducability of the page. I would expect any professional DTP application to be capable of producing the same result, but how much work it would require to produce the end product is another matter entirely. The ability to record internal macros is very potent, but even better is the embedded Python interpreter. This allows easy and powerful extension, anything ranging from a script to consistently style things that have no style (I make extensive use of one in Rune Master that modifies text objects that are standalone tables) to calendar generators. I'm also not aware of any other DTP application that has borders, an extension that uses vector graphics to make scalable rectangular outlines that use as many or few pieces as necessary. And not only does the Pro version have a broad selection of borders you can even create your own. But they say a picture is worth a thousand words.
