The club is a basic unit belonging to a District group which, combined with other District units, forms a State Federation which, in turn, is part of the national organization, The United Square Dancers of America.
In order to promote the sense of "family" and to support the following year's activities, the National Organization holds one huge dance each year, hosted by one of its States. The State Federation also holds one dance annually, hosted by one of its Districts.
Accordingly, our Central District holds one dance each year on the last Saturday in March, hosted by one of its Clubs. Each Club acts as host every few years on a pre-set rotation basis, with frequency depending on the number of Clubs in the District.
This organizational structure and mutual support is why your small Federation card will allow you to dance with any member Club in the United States, or any country in the World for that matter. It certifies that you belong to the "Family of Square Dancers". . . whose most basic and vital ingredient is the individual Square Dancer. . . you!!
Being a member of the universal "Square Dance Family" introduces us to some of the greatest people in the world from all walks of life, bringing new friendships that add depth and enrichment to our lives.
