APPLE SOUR CREAM PIE
Single pie
crust, prepared
1 egg, well
beaten
1 tsp.
vanilla
1/8 tsp salt
2 cups finely
chopped apples
3/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons
flour
1 cup thick
sour cream
For crumb
topping
1/3 cup sugar
1 tsp.
cinnamon
1/3 cup flour
1/4 cup
butter (do not melt)
Combine
sugar, flour, add sour cream, egg, flavoring, salt.
Pour into pastry-line pie plate. Bake in a hot oven (400) degrees for 15
minutes. Reduce heat to 325 degrees and bake for 30 minutes. Remove from oven.
Combine
sugar, cinnamon, flour, and butter for topping. Sprinkle over pie. Return to
oven and bake at 325 degrees fro 20 minutes.
NOTE: This
recipe was taken form the small magazine called The Lutheran Digest. A few secrets before you start:
Do not double
recipe. If you want two pies, make a second one.
Try to use
Granny Smith apples as they have a better flavor for a cooking apple.
Use a deep
dish pie plate: It does not run over as easily.
