Phelps County Disaster Committee Meeting Minutes, Tuesday, June 12, 2007 Phelps County Courthouse Present: Snodgrass, Waltman, Walls, Lackey, Caton, Pedersen, Halinar, Bridges, Hashagen, Harvey, Ross Minutes and Introductions: PCDC Chairman Buz Harvey called the meeting to order at 10:00 am in the general meeting room of the Phelps County Courthouse. Meetings of the May 8, 2007 meeting were posted on the PCDC website and were approved. Introductions were made and email addresses confirmed. The minutes are available at: Program Grant Status: Tammy Snodgrass reported that extensions were granted to allow completion of the Citizen Corps grant. The CERT grant has been completed. Seventeen attended the first CERT class in April, and 22 attended the second class in May. Because of postal regulations there was doubt about how much of the initial NW mailing could be completed under the current Citizen Corps grant. It was decided to complete as much of the mailing as possible now, and complete it, if necessary, under a subsequent grant. Since the June 12 meeting, SEMA has informed PCDC that a new grant cycle has started with a proposal deadline of July 13. Each program area has been asked to submit requests by Friday, July 6 to Buz Harvey (hogan14@fidmail.com). He and Tammy Snodgrass of MRPC will finalize and submit by the July 13 deadline. Homeland Security Oversight Committee: No report. Medical Reserve Corps: Jodi Waltman reported the group had determined that a 10x20 foot event tent is needed to conduct community training. The expenditure will be addressed in the next grant cycle. Modifications are being made to the mobile hospital according to Debbie Halinar, and a training exercise will be scheduled when those are completed. Neighborhood Watch: A mailing has been prepared to include all Phelps County addresses suggesting the formation of NW groups throughout the county. The mailing will take place as soon as available grant funds permit. The next mapping workshop will be held on Wednesday, August 15 at RTI according to Chuck Pedersen. Harvey will contact SSG Williams and the Boy Scouts to bring the two parties together to help with NW programs. Shelters: No report. Incident Support: No report. General Information: Harvey will email each member a list of all those who have signed on with PCDC. A simple "reply to all" click will reveal each name on the list and a right click on "properties" will reveal the email address. He will also email a copy of the NW brochure to each member. Finally, it was decided to forgo the July and August meetings and to meet next on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at the Courthouse. Any member can call a meeting if needed between now and then if needed. Respectfully submitted, Buz Harvey For Linda Hanrahan, Secretary |
