Meeting Minutes, Tuesday February 13, 2007

Phelps County Courthouse

Present: Snodgrass, Waltman, Rueff, Walls, Caton, Pedersen, Halinar, Bridges, Hoffman, Taylor, Duncan, Harvey, Hanrahan, Williams, Smith

Minutes and Introductions: PCDC Chairman Buz Harvey called the meeting to order at 10:00 am in the general meeting room of the Phelps County Courthouse. Introductions were made and email addresses confirmed. The minutes are available at:

Program Grant Status: Buz reported that the extension for May 30, 2007 had been granted. Tammy Snodgrass reported that she needed to file for reimbursement but was having trouble with the on-line reimbursement form. She asked for reports from the Citizen Corps and the CERT grant recipients. Ron Smith with Rolla Fire and Rescue is working with SEMA to get CERT classes in Rolla and St. James scheduled. He asked the committee what schedule would be most beneficial to the students. Discussion was held, with the committee recommending both Friday and Saturday 10-hour classes, or Friday evening, all-day Saturday, and Sunday afternoon class.

Homeland Security Oversight Committee: Paul Rueff gave a report of the meeting that was held in St. James to discuss the shelters in the St. James area. The St. James School District and the Catholic, Methodist and First Assembly of God Churches had representatives. Edna Bridges had spoken to the group about Red Cross shelters and the need for volunteers to be trained prior to a disaster. Jodi Waltman spoke to the group on the involvement of the Health Department with shelters and the need for a special needs shelter. Reuff and Bridges will do a field survey of the assets in the St. James area.

FEMA Surplus Funds: Nothing reported.

Medical Reserve Corps: David Duncan reported that the drill exercise is being scheduled.

Neighborhood Watch: Nothing reported.

Shelters: Jodi Walteman voiced her concerns for the needs of shelters for special need patients.

Adjournment and Next Meeting: Paul Rueff moved to adjourn at 11:00 am. The next meeting will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, March 13. 2007 in the general meeting room at the Phelps County Courthouse. The public is invited to attend.
