Meeting of 14 March 2006 The meeting was opened at 10:00 by PCDC president Buz Harvey. In attendance were Buz Harvey, Joe Counsil, David Duncan, Mike Byington, Traci Brookshire, Ray Massey, Linda Hanrahan, Paul Rueff, Jodi Waltman, Dan Babcock, and Jason Finch. There was a brief grant overview of each of the six programs. There was an extended discussion of the Weather Emergency Short-Term Shelters. Apparently there are none designated in the City of Rolla. During the recent severe-weather outbreak Jodi called Lt. Macormic, Emergency Management Director of the City of Rolla, concerning this topic and learned that there was no plan for Rolla. Paul will contact the City of St. James concerning setting up shelters in the City of St. James. It was concluded that there needs to be a meeting with municipal leaders to formulate severe-weather (WESTS) shelters in those municipalities. Buz will follow up, and will discuss communications with E-911, fire, police, and sheriff agencies to organize access and information about shelters. Concerning Neighborhood Watch, Jason will meet with Paul to begin work on expanding NW programs in the City of St. James. Buz, Tammy, and Joe will meet later this week to finalze the Citizen Corps grant proposal. Joe will provide more detail on Citizen Corps programs, printing costs, etc. The next meeting will be held Tuesday, 11 April at the Phelps County Courthouse. Buz closed the meeting at 11:05.
