Phelps County Disaster Committee Meeting Minutes, Tuesday, June 9, 2009 Phelps County Courthouse Present: Waltman, Bridges, Halinar, Hashagen, Harvey, Rueff, Massey, Hanrahan, Giacolone, ThompsonMinutes and Introductions: PCDC Chairman Buz Harvey called the meeting to order at 10:00 am in the general meeting room of the Phelps County Courthouse. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved. Introductions were made and email addresses confirmed. The minutes are available at: www.rollanet.org/~disaster Program Grant Status: A grant request for $16,301 was submitted on 5/18/09, and $11,000 was approved for the grant period of 6/1/09 to 4/30/10. Since the grant guidelines were much more restrictive than in earlier years, only 2 projects were presented for funding: Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) and Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS). The grant was finalized and approved on June 18, 2009 and will fund training for MRC and VIPS volunteers. Homeland Security Oversight Committee: No Report. Rueff and Massey indicated they would approach the new sheriff and inform him of the activities of PCDC. FEMA Presentation: No report. Medical Reserve Corps: Waltman reported that 35 volunteers are trained and on board. The current grant allows for joint training exercises between MRC and the PCRMC 50-bed mobile hospital. Neighborhood Watch: This program will be folded into the VIPS program, and training will be funded through the current Citizen Corps Program grant. Shelters: No report. Incident Support: The station manager at Results Radio, Mike Thompson attended the March meeting and said he would meet with Rick Williams and Paula Volkmer at the 911 office at the city of Rolla. Harvey contacted Scott Grahl at the city of Rolla to let him know of the offer and added Thompson to the PCDC list.
