SUBJECT: Letter of Understanding for Serving as a Severe Weather Shelter

At the request of the City of Rolla Emergency Management Director _______<name of facility>_______ agrees to serve as a severe weather shelter for the citizens of Rolla.

The ______<name of facility>_______ agrees to open our building, located at ______<address of facility>________ to provide shelter and assistance to those residents who do not have adequate shelter during times of severe weather such as tornados. We also understand that our facility will be included on a list of public severe weather shelters that will be maintained by the City of Rolla Police Department.

Our facility has the capacity to accommodate approximately ________ people. We understand that our organization will be responsible for opening the building and developing procedures for making the building available during times of sever weather when a tornado watch has been issued for the area.

We also understand that this agreement can be terminated at any time by providing the City of Rolla Police Department with 60 days notice. This will allow time to find another shelter for the area and notify the public of the change.
