The Truck

Alrighty then, transportation.  1991 Dodge Dakota extended cab.  318ci V8.  4 speed auto transmission.  235/70 front, 275/60 out back.  Power everything.  Rear roll pan, checkerpro hinged flush cover.  150k miles and runs like a champ.

On the left you can see the top shelf where the 6.4” LCD sets.  On the right is the Icom 706mk2g on a gooseneck dtmf mic and wedge speaker

The factory radio has been replaced by a MobileVision multi-media disc player receiver.  It plays dvd/svcd/vcd/mp3/cd and has an am/fm tuner.  It comes with a full function remote seen in upper left picture.  It plays all my discs very well.  I’d advise using an amplifier for more audio output.

The only downfall is that the radio tuner is deaf @ 31dBf.  Todays averages are 11dBf.  dBf stands for decibel femtowatts, how much signal do you need to ‘kill off’ the static.  the lower the figure, the better the receiver.  Try again MobileVision, and mail me one.

1) hershey kiss mount with pro-am hf stick

2) Comet SBB7-NMO 2m/70cm [nice]

1) 5dB cellular

2) hershey kiss mount with pro-am 6m stick

There are many solutions to hf mobile, this is mine.  I really like the pro-am monoband sticks for hf work.  I have 10, 17, 20, & 40 meter sticks.  All are mounted on Hustler QD-2 quick disonnects, the only way to go.  When a stick is not mounted on the hf mount, it is placed into the pvc pipe w/elbow seen to the left.  This keeps them orderly, dry, and accessible.  A comet duplexer splits the 6m/hf output of the Icom so i can have 6m all the time regardless of the stick on the hf mount.  Low cost solution.

2 ways to go, cosmetic first then performance, or the other way around.  It’s obvious the cosmetics are a long way off.  120 amp alternator and a giant battery with xtra posts for the radios and other electrical goodies are tucked into the engine compartment with the V8

This is all you’ll see, unless you’re riding with Droopus, he cheats
