My Friends

During Desert Storm, you couldn’t ask for a better friend.  This is Chris Cammack displaying a big ‘ol hog.  Chris is on the left.  He lives down in his home state of Texas with his wife and 2 kids, now 4 & 7.  I miss hanging around with him.  Muddin’ in his truck, jawin’ about firearms, huntin’ & such.  Jumpin off the cliffs at the lake just cause we dared each other and didn’t wanna look like a sissy boy.  Never did get me a pair of armadillo skin boots but he sure is a good guy and i count him among my best of friends.

There we are in the desert.

Chris on the left again.

This is Allen Kimrey.  Medium Size Al is what we call him.  He’s an active duty police officer, rank of Corporal with the Salem Police Department.

We hit the weights at the fitness center, browse the flea markets at ‘ham fests’, talk everywhere allowed in the RF spectrum, since we are XTRA class Ham Radio operators.  And of course we get together once a month to catch all the action, fake as it may be, on the wrestling pay per view specials.  This being the perfect excuse to let our diets slide a bit with a BBQ pizza, sharp cheddar pretzels, crispy m&ms and diet mountain dew.

This is Mark Farrar.  Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch is what I call him.  He owns his own framing, scrap booking and picture video store.

We eat at the ching chong place for crab kangaroo and mouse on a stick.  It’s really good.  Digital8 camcorders, DV video, DVD authoring are all topics of discussion.  Catch him on dalnet as WebJunkie.  They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

That is one wicked hooded T.  On the right we see ‘nickman’.  You can find him somewhere.  Ask for 187 script if you run across him.  I’m sure he’d  be happy to hook you up.

This is John Macomber.  Like Al, he was a regular user of my ham radio repeater.  He also participated in the donations to get my IRLP node which is running full time on my repeater.  It was always fun to hear him over the air on his HT from far out of Salem traveling here and there.  BBQ was another hobby of his and it tasted great.  Hand cut, bacon wrapped fillet  and flower pot BBQ pits are always thought of with a smile.  NØOXR is his callsign.  My friend John is silent key, I will miss him very much.
