Richard Mark Anderegg was born July 21, 1962, in Charleston, South Carolina. He was the third of four children born to Fred C. and Sandra A. Anderegg. Fred was in the United States Air Force. As a result, the family moved several times. In 1965, they moved to England. In 1968, Fred was stationed in Las Vegas, Nevada. At that time, the family began attending Redeemer Lutheran Church, where Richard was eventually confirmed. In 1971 the family moved to Homestead, Florida. Fred retired from the Air Force in 1973, and the family moved back to Las Vegas. Richard attended Eldorado High School in Las Vegas and was active in two choirs. He was also active in the youth group at Redeemer Lutheran. Following graduation in 1980, Richard worked at Redeemer's day-care until deciding to become a Lutheran school teacher. He began attending Concordia (Teacher's) College in Seward, Nebraska (now Concordia University, Nebraska) in January of 1982. While at Seward, Richard was active in student government, drama productions, speech competitions and "Ambassadors for Christ." He served as a student senator for three years and Student Body President for one year. In 1985, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a major in Speech/Drama. Upon graduation, Richard accepted a call to teach at Christ the King Lutheran School in Memphis, Tennessee. He began teaching third grade in August of 1985 and remained in that position for seven years. Richard met Sara Jo Hefner while teaching at the school. They began dating in May 1986 and were married June 27, 1987. At that time Richard became the stepfather of Sheri and Holly. In May 1992 Richard received a Master of Science degree in Counseling from the Education Department of Memphis State University. That summer the family moved to St. Louis so that Richard could begin work at Concordia Seminary. Richard graduated from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis on May 17, 1996. Sara is a bookkeeper and enjoys such hobbies as stained glass, embroidery, and other crafts. She collects carrousels. Sara grew up in Memphis, Tennessee and lived there all her life until moving to St. Louis, as did the two girls. Sheri is a 20-year-old 1996 graduate of Lutheran High School South in St. Louis. She enjoys art, reading, writing, and volunteer work. She is currently attending Concordia University in Mequon, Wisconsin, where she plans to major in Social Work. Sheri hopes to work for the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod after graduation. Holly is a 17-year-old in high school. She likes to collect bears, cook, ride horses, and do crafts. Holly also enjoys working with children. Among Pastor Anderegg's interests and hobbies are computers, bowling, roller skating, playing pool, drama, and talking to people. While in Memphis, he directed Christian drama productions at the school and local churches. It is with great joy that Richard was ordained and installed as pastor of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Robert, Missouri on June 30, 1996. |
