Comparison of ISO-9000 and MIL-Q-9858A / MIL-I-45208A Requirements
- Abstract: The focus of this portion of the DLA Virtual Enterprise
Project is refinement of the design attributes associated with the sample
procurement package provided to Frontier Engineering. A key objective of
this review is to focus the study on similarities and differences between
ISO 9000 and MIL I/MILQ quality standards, identify gaps in coverage, and
to provide a tool (matrix) which will enable vendors to preclude duplication
of effort in setting up parallel quality systems. Simply stated, if a vendor
uses or intends to use ISO quality methods in lieu of DOD quality methods,
what added requirements will need to be met to comply with the typical
Government procurement? A further objective of this tasking is to determine
if any of those added requirements are truly critical to obtaining a sufficient
level of confidence in the "form", "fit", and "function"
of the product that will ultimately be delivered.
