Management Benchmarking: A Model for the Future- Abstract: Since
human nature is to resist change, as Thurow suggests, an EM benchmarking
program must address this issue. Thurow suggests that organizations that
do this well will align employee self interest with organizational productivity
and other performance goals. Thus, EM Managers should make productivity
"visible" and meaningful to employees by establishing incentive
and reward systems for improving productivity through benchmarking. Without
such an effort, workers have historically not risen to meet the demands
of productivity improvement.
