Boxes of Stars
This would be a fast, easy quilt with big visual
impact. Each star is in the corner of the block,
so by alternating the orientation of the blocks,
the stars looked scattered instead of in neat rows.

The Nativity

This is a pretty wall quilt made from a purchased
panel. I found it at a yard sale for only $1.00!
Since I changed my living room decor, red and
green Christmas designs no longer match, but
blue works great.

Consider making a table quilt for your Christmas
table. Use fabric instead of batting for the middle.
Do sturdy machine quilting, or tack it by hand or
machine. Use quality fabrics as you'll be washing it
after each use.

Cabin in the Woods
This quilt could be machine appliqued. The only
tedious part would be the little stars surrounding
the center square. This would look dramatic using
dark night fabric for the sky, and darker greens
for the trees.

Noel

I made this wall quilt in a class taught by Ruth
Rakop in the Piece and Plenty Quilt Guild in
Rolla, Missouri. It is her original design. I
used 1/4" bias tape for the 'lead' between the
'stained glass'. Hand appliqued and machine pieced.
|

I made several doll-quilt-size pieces in reds
and greens to use to keep rolls warm, small
table toppers, etc.

Blizzard

This quilt would be easy-peasy to piece using
and greens. |

Beaded Nativity
Copyright 2009. All rights are reserved.
This wall quilt is made of a scenic fabric that
I cut up and reassembled with black dividers.
It is heavily embellished with beads and
sequins. There are long bead strands hanging
from the bottom edge, and a very fancy metallic
ribbon makes up the hanging tabs. This was very
fun to work on. |

Make your favorite block in Christmas colors
times 3, 5 or 7, for a quick but pretty table
runner. Join the blocks and use low loft batting.
Add a simple border.
|

Celtic Christmas
This quilt is doable by tedious piecing, or
by regular and reverse applique. I love the
muted colors. |

Primitive Online Christmas Row Robin
Copyright 2009. All rights are reserved.
This is another online collaborative quilt.
My row was the cockeyed log cabins. I joined
the rows and bordered the sides with home-
spun. I added some hand appliqued flower vines.
I *love* the feel and attitude of this quilt.
|

When you need just a 30 minute project, why not
make a few Christmas pot holders? These would make
thoughtful little gifts for friends, as well.
|

Snowy Tree
This would be a fun quilt to piece because
it combines Christmas fabrics with large
pieces, and finer piecing in the Mariner's
Compass blocks. |

Online Christmas Round Robin Bed Quilt
Copyright 2009. All rights are reserved.
I joined an online round robin group to
make this Christmas quilt. I hand
appliqued the weird center square. I
chose to use solid cottons in bright
colors. It goes on my bed every year
during the holidays. The other part of
the photo is the pieced back.
|

A Christmas quilt would work fine as a
Christmas tree skirt under an artificial tree.
|

Christmas Bars
Nothing could be faster to make than this
quilt using strip piecing and warm Christmas colors.
|

Reversible Christmas Tree Skirt
Copyright 2009. All rights are reserved.
I got a bee in my bonnet to make a reversible
tree skirt. One side is country-ish, the other
more elegant. I have a lot of satins and fancy
fabrics in my stash and wanted to use some of
them. When I joined the back to the front, I
actually sewed through all 3 layers around
each 'present', matching seams exactly. It
was a little tedious, but came out great.
It's heavy and bordered with purchased
ruffle with binding on the top edge, so it's
identical on both sides.
|

Cut a simple pine tree, bell or star shape
from cereal cardboard to use for a quilting
template in the border of a Christmas quilt.
|

Christmas Candy
This would be a fun scrap quilt to piece
because it's colorful and uses curved piecing.

Scandinavian Quilters Online Block Swap Quilt
Copyright 2009. All rights are reserved.
This is a block swap I participated in with
the Scandinavian Quilters Online. The blocks
were all different sizes. I sewed borders to
each one and added filler pieces, like assembling
a jigsaw puzzle. I embellished it with yo-yos,
bits of tiny blocks, then hand appliqued kurbits,
my favorite design motif, to the borders. It is
my very favorite quilt.
|

Make a sturdy crib size Christmas quilt to
keep in the car during the holiday season.

Snow Forest
Lots of machine applique and some diamond
strip piecing. A moderate amount of work,
but you'd love it every winter season.

Ugly Christmas Quilt

What was I thinking? I know what I was
thinking. I was just starting to experiment
with not making things so matchy-matchy. I
thought any fabrics would be okay together.
I found out after it was all together that
that was a false assumption! I sold the quilt
on eBay to somebody with bad taste. |

Create a set of Christmas towels by sewing
a pieced stripe about 3 or 4 inches from the
bottom of the bath towels. Sew together enough
strips to equal the towel width plus 1 inch.
Press seams to one side. Crosscut the stripped
fabric, then turn under the top and bottom edges,
and press. Sew the stripes across the width of
the towel, turning the ends under and stitch down.

Christmas Cactus
This quilt would take a substantial amount of work
- once. Then you could enjoy it every Christmas for
a lifetime. If I made this I would us a much wider
variety of fabrics.
|

Square Diamonds for Christmas
Copyright 2009. All rights are reserved.
This quilt is hand pieced and tacked closely. I
wanted to use up some of my reds and greens. I
found some Christmas Village fabric to back it
with. It has a blanket for batting, and is
wonderfully heavy and warm.
|

If you need an excuse to buy yet more
Christmas fabric, use mine: make a single
pillowcase for each family member, or a
set for each bed, etc.
