Pinecone Man Ornament Instructions

Shape some polymer clay into a face/head in a size that will fit the pinecone. Roughness adds character. I was going for a face that wasn't sweet. He looks like he's had a hard life. Bake according to clay directions, let cool. Paint it flesh color if needed. Paint on the whites of the eyes, then draw on features with fine tip marker. Glue on a little quilt batting, pillow stuffing, or white dryer lint for facial hair. Glue on a wedge of fabric for a long, pointy hat. I had to fold the hat forward, and glue it in place, to be able to make the hat point up, and to hide the hanger. Hot glue the head assembly to the top of a painted, glittered pinecone. My was store bought. Glue chenille stems to the back of the 'neck' for arms. Glue some cute objects into the pincecone man's arms. Glue two small pointy pieces of black foam, felt or cardboard strategically for feet. Glue a tiny pompom to the tip of the hat, then glue a hanging loop to the back of the head. I glued a teensy brush tree to his hat to cover up a little smear of hot glue I couldn't get out. You can find other Christmasy things for him to hold on floral picks or miniatures at the craft store. My little pinecone man, while not malevolent, lurks in the inner recesses of the tree.
