Dave received a flannel, TV, comfy-type quilt from Heidi for Christmas. He loves it. This summer he asked me if I would make a quilt like it for his dad's birthday in November. Because of assisting with my local quilt guild's biennial quilt show, plus sewing/quilting classes I was teaching at work, preparing for a 3-week vacation, helping with my new grandbaby, etc, I told him I just couldn't do it. About half an hour later he asked me if I would help him do it. I said yes. Dave proved to be a very apt student. He sewed very slowly, but very accurately. The fabrics he chose represent some of the milestones of his father's life. He finished it just in time for me to enter into the quilt show. I'm proud of Dave for doing it from start to finish. I asked him if he would ever make another quilt. Even though he's secure enough in his masculinity to use a sewing machine and create a quilt, he said no.
