Subject: Tribute to Randy Carnahan
Contributions in Randy's name may be made to the International Mission Board, P.O. Box 6767, Richmond, VA 23230 - designate it to the Equatorial Missionaries in Brazil.
Contributions in Mel's name may be made to the Children's Trust Fund, P.O. Box 1641, Jefferson City, MO 65102.
It is with deep sadness that we received the news of the loss of our friend and colleague, Randy Carnahan, his father Gov. Mel Carnahan, and their friend, Chris Sifford, in a plane crash yesterday evening, October 16, 2000. RollaNet officers, staff, and volunteers all wish to extend our heartfelt sympathies to the families and friends of these outstanding individuals.
We are especially affected by the loss of Randy Carnahan, who was an early volunteer working in support of RollaNet since its inception in 1994. His active participation helped to shape RollaNet's mission and its organization. His advice, both legal and personal, was valued by all of us and was essential in guiding RollaNet through the many rough spots we experienced along the way. He spent many hours of his time, voluntarily, handling the necessary paperwork to incorporate RollaNet as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, so it could become the first Internet access provider and Community Information Network in the greater Rolla area. Randy served as a member of our Board of Directors since the beginning and as our Secretary/Treasurer for the past several years.
Randy's dedication and contributions to RollaNet and the Rolla area community will be sorely missed, as will the contributions to the community and the state made by Mel Carnahan and Chris Sifford. Our community has been fortunate to be "home" for such dedicated individuals, and their loss will continue to be felt for a long, long time.
