Configure Outlook 98/2000 Email

Before you configure your email program, you should have already created a dial-up connection. If you haven't done this, return to the Configuration page and click on the appropriate link for assistance in creating the dial-up connection.

1. Open Outlook 98. From the Tools menu, choose Accounts. In the window which opens, Click the Add button, and choose Mail.

2. In the new window, in the Display name box, type your full name or any name you would like displayed to identify you as the sender. Click the Next button.

3. In the Email address box, type your RollaNet email address (youruserid@rollanet.org) with no spaces and no capital letters. Click the Next button.

4. In the Email Server Names window, from the drop-down list, choose POP3. In the Incoming mail (POP or IMAP) server box, type pop.rollanet.org. Make sure there are no spaces (including at the very beginning of the box; it will be very hard to detect. If in doubt, backspace till you reach the very beginning of the box and then type the information) and no capital letters. In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server box, type smtp.rollanet.org. Click the Next button.

In the Internet Mail Logon window, select Log on using: and enter your RollaNet userid (do not include the @rollanet.org portion of your email address, just the RollaNet userid) in the POP account name field. Enter your RollaNet password in lower cases with no spaces. Make sure the button beside Log On Using Secure Password Authentication is NOT selected. Click the Next button.

5. In the Friendly Name window, in the Internet mail account name box, you can type anything you want, but we recommend you put your RollaNet userid here - this will help you identify the account if you have multiple email addresses. Click Next.

6. In the next box, select Connect using my phone line. Click the Next button.

7. Select Use an existing dial-up connection. If you followed our instructions for creating your dial-up connection you will the see the name "RollaNet" in the Dial-Up Networking connection field. If there is nothing in this field, you will need to return to the Configuration page and click on the appropriate link for assistance in creating a RollaNet dial-up connection. Click the Next button.

8. Click the Finish button to save settings.

If Outlook 98/2000 is properly configured you should now be able to send and receive email successfully.
