Greetings Godzilla Lenticular Christmas Ornament
Carlton
Cards/American Greetings brings the perfect lenticular gift
for Christmas 2007 with the release of the third in their
Heirloom Collection of Godzilla Christmas ornaments. The ornament
features a lenticular show featuring Godzilla's greatest adversaries.
The highly detailed ornament features the 1960s-1970s Godzilla
standing in front of a giant drive-in theatre type screen.
When the ornament is moved, the lenticular image on the screen
changes to show different images of King Ghidorah, Hedorah
(The Smog Monster), Mothra and Mecha-Godzilla.
Pushing a button on top of the ornament plays the roars of
the monsters Godzilla and Mothra while the ornament lights
up.
The Godzilla ornaments are popular best sellers and have
disappeared from store shelves quickly during the previous
two incarnations, so get yours before they're gone.
The first Godzilla ornament in the series is quite collectible
and usually sells for more than it's original retail price.
If you can't find the 2007 Godzilla Heirloom Collection Christmas
Ornament in a local store, you can order it directly from
the Carlton
Cards/American Greetings Web site at a special price of
$18.75. Order multiple oranments because they make great gifts
for the Godzilla or 3-D collector.

Cartoon
Network 3-D Halloween Airs on Oct. 12
Cartoon
Network and LucasArts will transport viewers into another
dimension this October with Cartoon Network 3-D Halloween.
The special presentation, to be aired Oct. 12 as part of the
Friday Fried Dynamite block, will feature the popular series
Out of Jimmy's Head and Foster's Home for Imaginary
Friends. In addition to these special 3-D episodes, viewers
can also get a 3-D sneak peek at the LucasArts video game
Thrillville: Off the Rails, where players create and experience
the theme park of their dreams. The video game will be integrated
into the campaign promoting the special night of programming,
including on-air and online promotional elements.
3-D Halloween kicks off at 7 pm (ET/PT) with a new episode
of Out of Jimmy's Head called Ghost, in
which Jimmy sees a ghost in the classroom attic. His best
friend Craig sees this as an opportunity to cash in on Jimmy's
ghost spotting abilities and creates a pricey and spooky seminar.
At 7:30 pm (ET/PT), in the haunting Halloween 3-D episode
of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends titled Nightmare
on Wilson Way, Bloo's ultimate Halloween trick goes horribly
awry when his friends are turned into zombies.
DDD Group plc, a 3-D software and content company, was responsible
for converting the series episodes and Thrillville material
to 3-D with their software that combines real-time 3-D depth
recovery with the ability to edit the resulting 3-D scene.
This allowed DDD to quickly process the scenes as they were
delivered by Cartoon Network's animation studios while still
providing the flexibility to change the 3-D effect in each
scene prior to approval. The productivity of the software
allowed an entire 20-minute television episode to be reprocessed
to 3-D in just four weeks.
To promote Thrillville: Off the Rails, Cartoon Network will
create a custom teaser spot driving tune-in, as well as feature
the video game's branding on 3-D glasses. CartoonNetwork.com
will also create a custom micro-site featuring a game demo,
special game tips and tricks and additional information for
visitors. Viewers can go to CartoonNetwork.com for information
on how to receive free 3-D glasses.

The hosts are still dressing in their signature wacky costumes,
but this year it’s going to feel like they’re

Viewers who want to feel like they can reach out and touch
the twosome can stop by any Walgreens photo counter and pick

Monsters
vs. Aliens Changes Release Date
DreamWorks
Animation is moving Paramount's 2009 release date for the
3-D animated feature Monsters vs. Aliens to March
27, 2009. The date change avoids a head-to-head collision
with James Cameron's Avatar, from Fox, that would
have had the films fighting over the nation's growing number
of digital 3-D screens.
The DreamWorks movie, the company's first film produced entirely
in 3-D, had been scheduled for release May 15, 2009, just
a week ahead of Avatar, which is due May 22, 2009.
DWA CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg unveiled the move Wednesday at
the Goldman Sachs Communacopia conference in New York. Katzenberg
hailed 3-D, saying it will "transform" the movie
business.
The executive noted that he decided to move the release of
Monsters vs. Aliens,- a modern-day take on '50s monster
movies directed by Conrad Vernon and Rob Letterman, after
spending recent months surveying the developing 3-D exhibition
scene.
Had Monsters vs. Aliens stuck to its proposed May
release, "I saw more and more problems splitting the
market for 3-D right at the time when it will be becoming
the most exciting thing in moviegoing," Katzenberg said.
"Instead of splitting the market, I want to see it get
launched in the best possible way."
Katzenberg predicted that there would be 5,000 to 8,000 3-D
screens available domestically by the time Monsters vs.
Aliens rolls out in 2009. While a 2-D version of the
film also will play in smaller markets, the majority of its
U.S. dates will use the new 3-D technologies.
With its new release date, Monsters vs. Aliens will
have an eight-week window in the 3-D corridor before Avatar
takes over for the Memorial Day holiday.
"Monsters" originally had been penciled in for
May 22, 2009, to take advantage of Memorial Day weekend. But
when Avatar also put a marker down on that date,
Monsters vs. Aliens initially moved to May 15.
By moving to March, ahead of Easter, which falls on April
12 in 2009, Monsters vs. Aliens will be giving up
some of the midweek boxoffice business that is traditionally
seen during the summer play period, though it could make up
some of that ground from the moviegoing that takes place during
the staggered spring breaks that surround Easter.
Internationally, the transition to digital 3-D lags behind
that of the U.S., and so Katzenberg said that the film's international
release, which will begin with some day-and-date bookings,
probably will roll out more slowly but that the film would
still be able to take full advantage of foreign screens.
On the more immediate horizon, DWA and Paramount will release
Bee Movie, with Jerry Seinfeld producing, writing
and lending his voice, on Nov. 2.
"It's like a long-lost friend that has returned. It's
nice to have his sensibility back in your life," Katzenberg
said of the comedian whose eponymous TV show ended its primetime
run in 1998.
He added that he knows "adults assume that it's over
the heads of kids," but test screenings of the movie
about a wisecracking insect showed that kids "get it."

Promotional
View-Master® Promotes Peyton Manning Children's Hospital
at St. Vincent
Colts
quarterback Peyton Manning's starring roles are not limited
to a big season opener against the Saints.
Manning joined his father, former quarterback Archie Manning
and Gov. Mitch Daniels at St. Vincent Children's Hospital
in early September for what hospital officials called a "major
announcement that will benefit pediatric patients throughout
the state of Indiana." It all lead up to the announcement
of naming the new Peyton Manning Children's Hospital at St.
Vincent. St. Vincent didn't reveal anything about its news
prior to the event, but the hospital was busy hyping its Manning-centered
event.
St. Vincent sent the media a custom View-Master®
with 3-D photos of Manning with young St. Vincent patients.
Peyton first partnered with St.Vincent Health
back in 1998, and since that time has maintained a strong
relationship with the Children’s Hospital.
- In 2004 Peyton sponsored the monthly “True Heroes”
program, which provides monthly events and parties for pediatric
patients at the hospital. Events include pizza parties,
trips to the Indianapolis Zoo and special visits from Manning
and his teammates.
- Every December, Peyton’s PeyBack Foundation hosts
an annual holiday party for the pediatric patients at the
Children’s Hospital. Manning makes personal visits
and delivers gifts to patients in the hospital. Every party
concludes with a special visit from Santa Claus.
- Each year Peyton makes countless personal visits to the
Children’s Hospital to help raise the spirits with
children who are ill and is the St.Vincent pokesperson for
our various child health and safety initiatives.
- Four pediatric inpatient rooms at the hospital are dedicated
to, and made possible by, a generous donation from Peyton
and his wife, Ashley. Each room has a football theme of
either the all-star athlete in his Indianapolis Colts or
Tennessee Volunteers uniform.

Boogie DS Videogame
Comes with 3-D Glasses
EA
Games' new karaoke-slash-dancing game Boogie had
a quiet start on the Wii last week, coming in near the bottom
of the Top 20, according to Chart Track, and it's had middling
reviews to boot. But that's not stopping the company from

The most interesting of the new versions is that for the
DS. The game will come with special glasses that will let
you follow the on-screen action in 3-D.
The portable version will also come with new modes and 10
mini-games not included in the Wii game.
The PlayStation 2 version, on the other hand, will be far
more similar to the Wii game and includes the standard singing
and dancing found in that version.
Both the DS and the PS2 editions of Boogie will be out in
time for Christmas.

3-D TV Comes to
Texas
Television
tech-heads in San Antonio have more acronyms to add to the
alphabet soup of high-definition viewing. They got their first
chance to see 3-D HDTV featuring DLP technology by Texas Instruments,
or TI. High-end electronics retailer Bjorn's arranged the
demonstration for customers.
Three-dimensional programs jump off the screen and have the
depth and layers that you don't get with conventional television
viewing. It's like the 3-D films you've seen in the past,
but the picture is crisper and the glasses are a lot more
high-tech.
Store owner Bjorn Dybdahl said he saw the technology in January
and again in March, and he has been bugging TI to show it
off.
"You're the first in Texas and the U.S. and probably
the world to see this from a retail standpoint," he said
to about 30 people in a trailer provided by Mitsubishi Electric.
Mitsubishi and Samsung sell the only 3-D capable HDTVs.
"It was wow," said Milton Glueck of San Antonio.
He said he hasn't taken the HDTV plunge yet, but Friday's
demonstration may have pushed him a step closer. "I'll
take two," joked Baron Wiley of San Antonio. "With
something like this, you want to be the first one on your
block."
The televisions cost between $2,500 and $4,300, depending
on size. That's only a few hundred dollars more than a DLP-equipped
HDTV that isn't 3-D capable.
The 3- TVs don't make regular programming leap out at you.
They will take programs shot in 3-D for theaters and give
them added life.
The added life costs about $1,500 extra. For that, you also
get a computer with special software, special glasses and
an emitter to control the glasses. The emitter signals the
glasses to shutter open and closed 60 times a second. That
allows viewers to see the images in 3-D.
So far, there isn't much 3-D content. You can't watch a football
game in 3-D unless it has been filmed in 3-D. In addition,
the 3-D content has to be run through the computer, much the
same way you would put a DVD into a DVD player.
Dybdahl said he has been selling the sets for the last couple
of months. But this is the first time he has been able to
show off their capabilities.
The demonstration enticed Richard and Jean Philbert of San
Antonio to watch. Richard Philbert had come in to the store
to get his remote control fixed. Eventually, the couple ended
up in a room watching the first three minutes of Star
Wars in 3-D.
