I spent the summer after my junior year in this crazy place in Taipei called Chien Tan. When I first heard that I had to go, I begged and pleaded with my parents to let me stay in the states. But they would have none of it. So, with a heavy heart, I left the city I love so much, Rolla, Missouri, and set off for Taiwan. I was dreading the experience. seven week summer camp in Taipei where I was supposed to learn Chinese? Almost two months in a city where I was functionally illiterate and didn't know anyone? Didn't sound that appealing to me.
Imagine my surprise when I got there and found it to be about two hundred kids my age who were all just looking to have a good time. And a good time we had. I would have to say that those seven weeks at Chien Tan mark some of the best times I've ever had; most people you'd ask would probably say the same.
So, to comemorate the good times we had, I threw this little web page together because I have absolutely nothing better to do. I've got my fingers crossed in hopes that Chien Tan has more fun in store for me sometime in the future.
